Cord’s Diversity Fall Event on Employment and Youth

The Coalition on Richer Diversity (CORD) is an umbrella organization, formed in 2007 in Newfoundland and Labrador, that enriches the community by bringing people together and being a resource. It reaches out to organizations and groups of immigrants and those who provide services in the community to collaborate, to offer networking opportunities, and to help them grow to be diversity sensitive.

We call this is a Diversity Fall Event because we will be discussing the diverse issues and the diverse solutions with regards to employment and youth. This will also be a fun event where we hope that everyone will enjoy themselves and partake in great discussions around these issues.

The major topics of discussion will be employment and youth. We also want to discuss the employment of newcomers and how to diminish turnover as well as how to improve their success in the workplace. We want to discuss the idea of creating a youth program for newcomers between the ages of 15 and 25. We want to gather youth service providers as well as those involved with in the business world and hear about their programs, new initiatives, best practices and lessons learned.

We invite anyone involved in employment, any youth service provider, anyone who works with and/or provides services to newcomers, newcomers themselves and anyone interested in these issues to join us on Friday, October 5th at St. Teresa’s Parish Hall from 9 am – 3 pm. Since coffee, tea, snacks and lunch will be provided, we ask you to please RSVP to or at 709-754-4122 by WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3RD with the name of the attendees and organization/company (or if you are just interested) and also indicate any dietary considerations.

Please come and share your ideas and learn more from others
